2). Can diesel cars be converted to run on LPG ?
The previous approach to diesel conversion was to totally replace diesel with lpg. This did not work very well. We are actively looking into alternative lpg adaptions for diesel engines. Once we have trailed a successful method we will be rolling it out.

3). Why should I convert ?

There are many reasons why you should have your vehicle converted to run on LPG some of which are listed below.

  • Cut your fuel bill in half. LPG costs over 50% less than petrol or diesel.
  • Enviromental benefits

    Compared to petrol
    • 75% less carbon monoxide
    • 85% less hydrocarbons
    • 40% less oxides of nitrogen
    • 87% less ozone

    Compared to diesel
    • 90% less particulates, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide
    • 50% less oxides of nitrogen

  • Vehicles running on LPG have quieter engines.
  • There are further benefits such as lower road tax.
  • Engine wear is reduced when running on LPG.
  • Service intervals for LPG cars are increased due to lack of carbon buildup.
  • Due to LPG car's reduced running cost, LPG cars sell at a premium. Also due to our warranty being transferable selling your LPG vehicle will be easier.

4). My car has engine warranty does installing an LPG kit void this warranty ?

Car manufacturers provide cars which run on LPG so voiding the warranty is not because of the technology. Our LPG kits are a proven technology. If installing the LPG kit voids your engine warranty, you can purchase engine warranty cover backed by leading insurance companies. Only LPGA authorised installers like ourselves are recognised by these insurance companies.

5). Is LPG safe to use as a road fuel ?

LPG has been used as a fuel in millions of vehicles all over the world.  In the UK there are over 100,000 cars running on LPG.  LPG is a safe fuel that is as safe as petrol if not more so for the following reasons :-

  • Installations should only be done by an LPGA approved installer.  This will ensure that the installation is done correctly.
  • The LPG system and tank we use are all UK and European LPG standards compliant  These standards include E7 67R01.  Furthermore the tank is tested to extremes of pressure and a test known as the "bonfire" test.  This test makes sure that the tank will not explode but only discharge its gas in a controlled manner if the temperature around it increases due to fire or any other reason.
  • Our RSI LPG system constantly monitors the engine and makes sure that the LPG is supplied efficiently and that the car runs more smoothly and environmentally cleaner.

6). Why should I use your company to convert my car ?

There are a number of reasons why we think we are the right company to convert your car.

  • Our technicians are all mechanics which means they understand how vehicle fuel systems work.  You will know your car is in good hands.
  • We are a dedicated LPG specialist. You will not find a grubby, dirty workshop. Clean workshop means clean work. No car back with oily stains.
  • Our technicians have access to professional MOT compliant gas testers and engine management software. We therefore throughly check vehicles prior to LPG kit installation. This assures both you and us that the car is ready for LPG installation and makes sure we have a smooth and problem free conversion. Other installers do not go to this expense which leads to problem with installations. Alot of our work is rectifying problems with installations by other installers.
  • We are LPGA approved installers.  Our team of approved installers have been through a rigorous training program and had their work inspected by independent inspectors.  Please do not use other companies who have not gone to the expense and time of training their installers to a high standard as mandated by the LPGA association.
  • We are the Authorised UK sole importer of ALDESA autogas systems. We have direct access to the manufacturer's engineers and partner suppliers.
  • Our technicians received training directly from the manufacturers.
  • We have professional imdemnity for all the work our technicians carry out.  This is only provided by our insurance company after close scrutiny of our work standards which are second to none.
  • Our kits carry a two (2) year warranty* against defects.   This is a manufacturer backed warranty.
  • We throughly test your vehicle once our kit is installed.  We have full insurance cover whilst driving your vehicle.  Make sure other companies go to this expense to safeguard your vehicle.  Once tested we will issue a certificate of conformity  which most insurance companies expect to see in order to provide cover.
  • Issue a certificate of conformity once we have performed a test drive on your vehicle, performed another exhaust emission test and checked the running of LPG kit using our dedicated software.

7). I have heard that LPG systems causes problems like backfiring does your system suffer from these types of issues ?

The older single point injection system (which we do not sell) due to its design had problems such as backfire and performance issues.   We only use ALDESA RSI (Real sequential injection) system which does not suffer from backfire problems.

Furthermore ALDESA RSI is computer controlled with the gas injectors as close as possble to the petrol injectors.  The RSI system makes sure that LPG is injected into the engine only during the aspiration (firing) phase.  The air intake manifold is always gas empty,  therefore you have no backfiring risks,  the highest efficiency and the minimum consumption. Finally due to the fact that the gas injectors mirror the petrol injectors there are no problems with performance.

8). How long does the conversion process take?

The conversion takes on average a few days. We do have a courtesy car which you can book and use whilst we convert your vehicle. Vehicles such as a Limousines will take longer to convert and we will let you know conversion time when you make contact with us.

9). Will I lose boot space ?

We stock a large selection of tanks. We stock donut type tanks that replace the spare tyre. In this case you would not lose boot space. However we have a superb tyre sealant product which we offer to customers. When this sealant is used there is no need to keep a spare tyre in the vehicle. It makes no sense to fit a donut tank and then keep the spare well in the boot.

10). Can I transfer my LPG system to another car ?

We can remove our LPG system and install it into another car you provide.  We would charge for the work and issue a certificate of conformity which your insurance company and DVLA would need to see.

11). How will my car's performance be affected ?

Our RSI kits are the lastest state of the art Multi Sequential Injection systems.  Older systems suffered from power issues at higher rpms and when under load.  Our Real Multi Sequential Injection LPG system is unique in the market due to the fact that the injectors behave as closely as possible when compared to the cars petrol injectors.  This means that our kits have power as well as economy at vital times such as when the car is under load, or at higher end of the rpm range.  Your car should not experience any noticable difference when running on LPG.

12). Is LPG widely available ? and what happens when I run out of LPG.

LPG is widely available in the UK. Currently LPG is available at over 1200 stations.  All the major petrol retailers such as BP, Texaco aswell as the supermarkets retail LPG. I new LPG station is being added per day.  Our system automatically monitor the LPG available in the tank.  When the LPG is running low the system will automatically switch to petrol and therefore not allow your car to run "lean" on gas which can damage your car.

13). How do I know when the car needs to be refilled with LPG?

The car will have a fuel indicator for LPG just as in the case for petrol.  This lpg fuel indicator is fitted to the dashboard of the car in a postion clearly visible to the driver.  The indicator consits of a row of leds that show the current level of gas in the tank.  Another red light warns that the car is running on petrol.  A green light shows that the car is running on LPG.  A button on the indicator allows the driver to manually switch between petrol and LPG.

14).Is it possible to fill the tank with the wrong type of fuel ?

This is impossible as the filling point on the car will only accept the LPG hose.
